This special ‘drop and leave’ school holiday program for 7 to 14 year olds is presented by Educated by Nature. KIN Village allows children to freely explore their world and community, with opportunities to play, build nature awareness and develop resilience with the support of Nature Educators and Mentors.
KIN Village is about saying ‘yes’ to kids, and giving them the chance to try hut building, carpentry, nature exploration, community games, art, music and cooking.
KIN Village is resourced with the objects and tools children might need to live out their adventure, while the Educators provide mentoring that observes and listens to children, helping them to build the skills they need to achieve their goals.
The program is designed to follow children’s natural energy levels throughout the day so that children can work as a team without feeling forced or held back.
Although no two KIN days are ever the same, at a regular KIN Village day children will have the opportunity to:
- use real tools to build, construct and tinker
- build rafts and explore the river foreshore (location dependent)
- prepare and cook a healthy lunch
- construct cubbies and huts
- connect with mentors and leaders
- explore nature, find animals, insects and plants
- and play wilderness awareness games.
