1. Starting on Friday (27th) and running for ten big days, the Chinese New Year Festival has a number of family-friendly and free events perfect for all ages.

2. Perth’s favourite pachyderm Tricia the Elephant is turning 60 and to celebrate, Perth Zoo is holding a massive birthday party this Saturday and Sunday (28th/29th).

3. There are workshops for kids on Saturday and Tuesday at the Model Rail Association in Bayswater.

4. Perth’s biggest pop-up inflatable waterpark Splash City is set to deflate on February 5th – but you still have a few days to check it out before the season ends.

5. Head to Belmont Forum this week for free DIY library bag workshops, and kids can decorate their own special bag just in time for school.

6. Did you know every Saturday night in Northbridge there are great free family-friendly movies being shown? Check out the lineup which run until April.

9. Capes and undies on the outside of your clothes are welcome at this brilliantly silly Superheroes for Kids show, showing at the Salon Purdu Spiegletent (part of Fringe) next Saturday and Sunday.

10. You will have no choice but to believe in magic after visiting the Mermaids at the Perth Fringe Festival, swimming every night until the 19th.

11. There is a fun fair at Hillarys Boat Harbour with fun and rides for all ages. Open every weekend.

12. For more Lion Dancing and celebrations, head along to the Stirling Farmers Markets next Sunday and celebrate the Chinese New Year.

13. Take the monkeys to Karrinyup Shopping Centre all this week and next to play on the free Jungle Gym which has taken over centre court.
